Your favourite band is coming to Berlin! You open the ticket site and see Vorverkauf, ausverkauft, Abendkasse… and you have no idea what's going on. You manage to get in, and at the end everyone starts chanting something you don't understand.

🇩🇪 A spoonful of German culture
If you want an encore at a German concert, shout ‘Zugabe! Zugabe!’ — Zugabe means ‘extra’. At classical concerts, people usually don't clap between movements, only when the whole piece has finished.
Popular shows can sell out the moment tickets go on sale, so many people keep an eye on Vorverkauf dates. If you're lucky, there may be leftover tickets at the Abendkasse on the night.
In summer there are open-air music festivals all over the country. Plenty of them last several days with camping, so wellies and a rain jacket are a must. ⛺
