🇩🇪 A spoonful of German culture
A German CV (Lebenslauf) is usually a short, tidy table. A photo used to be almost standard; today it's optional, and the custom depends on the company and the industry.
Applications often include references from previous employers (Arbeitszeugnis). They may sound positive throughout, but set phrases carry hidden grades, so Germans read them very carefully.
At the interview people usually use Sie, and arriving a little early is expected. The Stärken und Schwächen question comes up almost every time, so prepare an answer! 🤝
✅ Quick quiz
Q. The interviewer asks, "Was sind Ihre Stärken?" Which answer fits best?
- ① Ich arbeite sehr genau und bin zuverlässig.

Show the answer
① Ich arbeite sehr genau und bin zuverlässig.
Stärken = strengths, and this answer names two: ‘I work very precisely and I'm reliable.’
Stand in front of a mirror and say three sentences starting with Meine Stärke ist … out loud. The next interview is yours! 🌟
