🇩🇪 A spoonful of German culture
Germans drop the article with jobs: Ich bin Lehrerin. Er ist Koch. Most job titles also have a female form with -in, so a woman would say Ärztin or Ingenieurin.
Many people don't go to university but do vocational training (Ausbildung). You learn on the job at a company and attend a vocational school (Berufsschule) alongside it. Mechanics and cooks usually start this way.
In job ads you'll often see ‘(m/w/d)’. It means the job is open to men, women and people of diverse gender. 💼
