🇩🇪 A spoonful of German culture

German Christmas markets usually open around the end of November and run until just before Christmas. Some, like those in Nuremberg and Dresden, have centuries of history, but many neighbourhoods have their own small, cosy market too.

When you order Glühwein, you pay a Pfand for the mug. Bring it back and you get the deposit returned — or keep it as a souvenir. If you don't drink alcohol, ask for a warm Kinderpunsch.

Evenings and weekends can be one big Gedränge. Keep your wallet and phone close in the crowds, and if you want to bummeln in peace, go early on a weekday. 🍷
