Today's ten words are the ones you'll hear around Easter. With them you can wish people a happy Easter, join in an egg hunt and chat about German spring traditions. 🐣

🇩🇪 A spoonful of German culture
In Germany, Good Friday (Karfreitag) and Easter Monday (Ostermontag) are public holidays, so Easter means a long weekend. Karfreitag is a quiet day, and in many states events like dance parties are restricted.
On Easter Sunday morning, children search the house or garden for eggs and chocolate the Osterhase has hidden. A popular decoration is the Osterstrauch: branches in a vase hung with painted eggs.
Customs vary by region. In the north people light big Easter bonfires (Osterfeuer), and in Franconia you can see Osterbrunnen — village fountains decorated with eggs. 🔥
