🇩🇪 A spoonful of German culture

Germany is known for taking data protection (Datenschutz) very seriously. You'll see cookie banners on almost every website, and workplaces and schools often ask for your consent before using your photo or contact details.

When street-level photos first appeared on online maps, lots of people in Germany asked for their houses to be blurred, and people still bring it up as a typical German story.

Phishing texts pretending to be from a bank or delivery company are common. Banks usually don't ask for your password or PIN by email or text, so don't tap the link — check in the app or on the official website instead. 🎣
