Lots of people in Germany sing in a choir (Chor). Churches, companies and local clubs (Vereine) often have one, and people of all ages join just for fun.
At parties and festivals you'll often hear Schlager, a kind of very German pop. People love to tease it as cheesy — and then everyone sings along the moment it comes on.
If you practise an instrument at home, check your building's Hausordnung. Many buildings have quiet hours (Ruhezeiten), often at lunchtime and at night. 🎹
