How to use it
Shows the degree of clause 2 by describing an extreme or comparable situation.
Forming it
| 울다 | → 울 정도로 |
| 놀라다 | → 놀랄 정도로 |
| 춥다 | → 추울 정도로 |
| 맵다 | → 매울 정도로 |
Examples
눈물이 날 정도로 많이 웃었어요.
I laughed so hard that I cried.
손이 얼 정도로 날씨가 추웠어요.
It was so cold that my hands froze.
Compared with similar patterns
-도록 can also show degree (목이 아프도록) but mainly means purpose. -(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ 만큼 compares degrees ('as much as').
