🇩🇪 A spoonful of German culture

German towns usually have a municipal lost property office (Fundbüro), and public transport companies and Deutsche Bahn run their own. If you lost something on a bus or train, ask them first.

If you lose a bank card, block it straight away — through your banking app, your bank, or Germany's central card-blocking number 116 116. A lost ID card is usually reported to the police or the citizens' office (Bürgeramt).

On German streets you'll often see a lost glove or baby shoe placed carefully on a fence or bench, so the owner can spot it on the way back. 🧤
