Humble verb: you lower yourself when meeting someone higher in status. Before vowel endings it switches to 뵈다 (뵈어요 → 봬요).

Pronounced [뵙따]: 다 turns tense after ㅂ. The plain words are 보다 and 만나다; use 뵙다 for meeting teachers, bosses or elders, as in 처음 뵙겠습니다 'Nice to meet you'.
