even supposing that …, (still)
Level 6 · TOPIK II · advanced
How to use it
The speaker grants a situation for the sake of argument (it may or may not be true) and says the conclusion stays the same. Written or formal speech; 아무리 often comes before it.
Forming it
The second clause usually expresses a judgment, not a simple fact.
Examples
Even supposing that's true, now is not the time to argue about it.
However busy you may be, you should at least give your parents a call.
Compared with similar patterns
-ㄴ/는다고 해도 and -더라도 are the common equivalents; -(으)ㄹ지라도 is also written. -다손 치더라도 most strongly signals 'I'm only assuming this; I don't really accept it'.
