Korean grammar patterns › Level 2
-군요
oh, I see (reaction to a newly realized fact)
Level 2 · TOPIK I · beginner
How to use it
Expresses realization or a reaction to something you have just learned or noticed, often from what the listener said. Verbs take -는군요 in the present; adjectives and 이다 take -군요.
Forming it
| 먹다 | → 먹는군요 |
| 예쁘다 | → 예쁘군요 |
| 학생 | → 학생이군요 |
| 왔다 | → 왔군요 |
Present-tense verbs need -는-: ✗ 많이 먹군요 → 많이 먹는군요. It sounds a little more formal or bookish than -네요.
Examples
