have done / have never done (experience)
Level 1 · TOPIK I · beginner
How to use it
Talks about past experience: 'have (ever) done / have never done'.
Forming it
Not for everyday routine actions: ✗ 오늘 아침을 먹은 적이 있어요. Always the past modifier -(으)ㄴ: ✗ 가는 적이 있어요.
Examples
I've never been to Korea.
When I was little, I once found money on the street.
Compared with similar patterns
-아/어 보다 means 'try doing'; in the past (-아/어 봤어요) it also expresses experience, but -(으)ㄴ 적이 있다 focuses on whether it ever happened.
